FOOT MASSAGE THERAPY Weston, FL

Weston, FL FOOT MASSAGE THERAPY

Many of us have occupations that require us to spend the majority of the day on our feet. Individuals involved in the service and hospitality industries are particularly prone to sore feet, yet just about anyone can benefit from a good foot massage.

While there are different forms of foot massage therapy, including deep pressure and shiatzu, one of the most common forms is via reflexology. This means that the massage therapist seeks out specific pressure points on the feet and applies varying degrees of pressure. The theory behind reflexology is that each pressure point is connected to a corresponding organ or part of the body. By manipulating these pressure points, the massage therapist is actually able to stimulate healing and cleansing throughout the entire body.  Massage therapists must be specifically certified in reflexology in order to give this kind of massage.

Foot massage therapy concentrates on all areas of the feet, including the arch and the toes. While the pressure involved may be somewhat uncomfortable for the client, the relief they experience is worth the procedure.  Some prospective clients are nervous about receiving a foot massage not because of a fear of pain but rather because their feet are prone to experiencing ticklish sensations when they are touched. While this is certainly a valid concern, massage therapists are trained to touch the feet in such a way that tickling does not occur.

There are a number of benefits associated with receiving foot massage therapy. Not only does the pressure help to alleviate sore feet, it also improves circulation and promotes relaxation as well. Clients also experience relief from insomnia, anxiety, migraine headaches and lower back pain through regular participation in foot massage therapy.
